When digital printing made its debut in the late 80's, it was obvious to only a few visionaries that the traditional role of the offset and screen printer was going to change drastically at some not-so-distant-point-in-the-future. The thought of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace what could be done mechanically by a semi-skilled worker seemed beyond all comprehension. Those that did make that move to jump the chasm are today starting to reap the benefits.

They are enjoying lower production costs, higher margins, faster access to analytical information, and the ability to prototype a product to see if it is a winner or loser. What better way to increase the play on a bank of slots, than to be able to test out your gut feeling? As a casino or slot manager, you have been tied to a slot company's offerings, the same ones that the rest of the world have. In the past, the cost of set-ups, and film have not allowed you to experiment, to satisfy the desire for immediate change, to do seasonal specialty promotions that cater to your customer.

With digital methods, you see the design on the computer screen, you may even have helped in its design. You certainly have the opportunity to make any recommendations you have. Once you have the digital file, you have two choices. One is to spend a lot of money to have screen printed versions produced, usually more than you need or can justify economically. The other is to do what the slot manufacturers do, which is to prototype! The two choices available are high-resolution inkjet, not to be confused with the much lower resolution cartridge style inkjet systems.

High-resolutions inkjet is of the micro-dispersion variety, capable of printing 31 droplets of ink per pixel, or dot, as commonly referred to in computer graphics language. This gives a full range of color and density, and would compare to up to 40 screens, if printed by a screen printer wishing to match the color range generated by the digital file. Note with caution, however, that the screen printer could never give the fine dot detail attainable from high-resolution inkjet.

UV Print Technology provides the "greenest" print method available for environment friendly prints on virtually any substrate.

Photographic Laser Technology produces high resolution photographic prints and transparencies via Lambda printers. Photographic paper and film is then processed in the traditional silver halide process to achieve archival photo prints.

One real good reason, is that there are no pigments in inkjet, just vegetable based dyes. Image Transform, one of the largest inkjet service bureaus in the world, has generated 6 years of research and development into the fade-proofing and U.V. stabilization of inkjet printed materials. With the development of ink-receptive coatings, and anti-fade over coatings, Image Transform has led both the fine art and gaming industries into the digital revolution.
